Mission
We convene international thinkers in medical education to:
- spark innovation and meaningful change through evidence-informed dialogue on cutting-edge topics and scholarship;
- create a welcoming and inclusive environment where medical educators with a variety of social identities can connect, reflect, nurture one another; and
- engage in disruptive thinking to advance the medical profession to better meet patient and population needs.
Vision
To be the community where joy, science, humanity and strength of residency medical education and learning come together.
Goals
Each year, ICRE brings together more than 1,700 medical educators, physicians and trainees from around the world to share ideas, challenges, innovations, and advance training.
Audience
- clinical teachers and educators;
- program directors;
- residents;
- postgraduate deans;
- program administrators;
- government leaders and policy makers;
- educational researchers; and
- medical education leaders.
By the end of ICRE, participants will be able to:
- Recognize that ICRE is the community where joy, science, humanity and strength of residency medical education and learning come together;
- Express the challenges present in the evolving residency education space;
- Identify innovative practice trends in residency education, and extend the implications to their own context(s);
- Adopt new approaches for enhancing excellence in teaching and assessment in residency;
- Apply disruptive thinking to advance the medical profession to better meet evolving patient and population needs;
- Adapt evidence-informed practices and research approaches in residency education to their local milieus;
- Seek to reflect on different approaches to residency education from other countries and jurisdictions around the world;
- Recommend ICRE to colleagues as a welcoming and inclusive environment, where medical educators with a variety of social identities can connect, reflect, nurture one another.
